B2C shipping guidelines

Ship parcels the right way

Follow these basics for parcel (B2C) shipments to avoid weight disputes, delays and RTOs.

Volumetric weight

L × B × H (cm) ÷ 5000 = kg

You are charged on the higher of dead weight and volumetric weight.

Packaging

  • Use a sturdy corrugated box or tamper-proof courier bag sized to the product.
  • Fill empty space with cushioning; fragile items need bubble wrap on all sides.
  • Seal with strong tape — liquids should be double-bagged and leak-proof.

Weight & dimensions

  • Charges use the higher of dead weight and volumetric weight.
  • Volumetric weight (kg) = L × B × H (cm) ÷ 5000.
  • Enter the packed weight and box size accurately — mismatches raise weight discrepancies.

Prohibited items

  • No hazardous, flammable or explosive goods, narcotics, weapons or currency.
  • Restricted items (e.g. liquids, batteries, perishables) depend on the courier — check before booking.
  • Sellers are responsible for complying with applicable laws for what they ship.

COD rules

  • COD order value is capped per courier (typically up to ₹50,000).
  • A COD fee (flat or % of order value, whichever is higher) applies per shipment.
  • COD is remitted to your verified bank account on the published remittance cycle.

Label & pickup

  • Print the shipping label and paste it flat on the largest face of the package.
  • Do not cover the barcode with tape; remove old labels from reused boxes.
  • Keep packages ready at the pickup address before the scheduled pickup slot.

NDR & RTO basics

  • An NDR is raised when delivery fails (customer unavailable, wrong address, refused).
  • Respond to NDRs quickly — re-attempt or update details to save the delivery.
  • Unresolved shipments return to origin (RTO); RTO freight is charged as per your rate card.

Cargo+ (B2B) guidelines

Move heavy, multi-box consignments

Cargo+ moves multi-box and heavy consignments. These rules keep B2B shipments compliant and on schedule.

Invoice + e-way bill above ₹50,000 · GSTIN required

Minimum chargeable weight

  • Each consignment is billed for at least 20 kg, or the actual/volumetric weight if higher.
  • Declare per-box weight and dimensions — chargeable weight is calculated box by box.

Invoice & e-way bill

  • Every consignment must travel with a valid tax invoice.
  • An e-way bill is mandatory when the consignment value exceeds ₹50,000.
  • Enter the e-way bill number and expiry while creating the order.

GSTIN

  • Shipper GSTIN is required for B2B bookings.
  • Add the consignee GSTIN for business-to-business invoices where applicable.

Appointment deliveries

  • Malls, modern trade, warehouses and CSD canteens often accept goods only by appointment.
  • Mark the order as appointment-based and share the slot or PO details in advance.
  • Missed appointments may attract re-delivery or waiting charges.

To-Pay vs Prepaid

  • Prepaid: freight is debited from your wallet at booking.
  • To-Pay: the consignee pays freight at delivery, subject to carrier and lane availability.

Box labelling

  • Label every box — each box carries its own label with the box count (e.g. 1/4, 2/4).
  • Stack and strap multi-box consignments; palletise very heavy loads.
  • Mark fragile and orientation (this-side-up) on the outer cartons.
